National Telematics Cluster Event marks New Stage in Development of Australian Telematics Industry

Ndarala Group Media Release: 21 August 2005

As part of Phase 3 of the Program to create a new Australian Telematics Industry, the 5th National Telematics Industry Cluster Event will be held in Melbourne on 2 September 2005.

Seeded by the Victorian Government in early 2004 with follow up funding by the Australian Government (AusIndustry), the Program has been driven by AEEMA and strongly supported by Australian industry.

John Humphreys, the Program leader and CEO of the Brisbane based Ndarala Group member Global Innovation Centre, stated that the 5th Event followed the outstanding success of previous Program initiatives.

"We have met," Mr Humphreys said, "all the Australian Government milestones for the first two phases of the project. We received excellent media coverage for the AT Signature 'car of the future project' and have seen enhanced international interest in our local telematics capabilities."

"Now three other high priority demonstration projects have been identified as exemplars of this rapidly emerging industry."

"The aim of the new Event is to continue the momentum towards the establishment of a commercially viable Australian niche industry in telematics."

"On behalf of the National Telematics Steering Committee, I look forward to again meeting with our existing cluster participants, as well as extending a warm welcome to new companies in this major, industry-driven multi-sector initiative", Mr Humphreys concluded.

The 5th National Event will be held at the Victorian Department of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development, level 46, 55 Collins Street, Melbourne. Participants will hear reports on progress to date and discuss potential new developments.
